Adele Claire Roberts born (9 March 1979) commonly known as Adele Roberts is a British broadcaster, reality Tv personality and a professional Disc Jockey. Roberts worked on both BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 2. Her best-known television appearances were in Big Brother, I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! and Celebrity Coach Trip.
Roberts declared on June 27, 2022, that she had been given the all-clear and was now “cancer free.”

Early life
Roberts was born in the Merseyside town of Southport. She is the eldest of six siblings with Barbadian and British ancestry. She had her private education at Merchant Taylors’ Girls’ School in Crosby, Merseyside. Roberts studied pharmacology at the University of Leeds, where she also worked as a DJ for Leeds Student Radio.

Roberts was a Big Brother 3 housemate. She came eighth after being evicted on July 5, 2002, in view of 7.1 million people. Adele later returned to the series in 2007 and took part in a Big Brother 8 challenge with Alex Sibley.
Radio
In 2002, she secured her first radio job at Rock FM in Lancashire, where she hosted the weekly “Smooth Grooves Show,” a self-produced urban specialized show that aired Fridays from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Roberts also hosted programmes on Manchester’s The Hits Radio. She joined Galaxy in Leeds in 2006. (Now Capital).
She joined BBC Radio 1Xtra in 2012. Roberts has indicated that presenting on BBC 1Xtra has long been a goal of hers, and that she attended a development event for the station (then known as ‘Network X’) in 2002 but was too scared to contact anybody and left immediately.

Roberts was appointed as the next host of the BBC Radio 1 Early Breakfast show from 4:00-6:30am in 2015. Greg James, Scott Mills, Chris Moyles, and Dev have all previously hosted the show. She also provides frequent coverage for The Live Lounge Show.
In 2020, Roberts became the first black woman to headline the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast show after usual host Greg James was unable to be on air due to his attendance at the Brit Awards. It was then revealed that this was a staged prank in which listeners had to find James’s whereabouts using on-air clues.
The BBC announced in November 2020 that she will be the next host of Radio 1’s Weekend Breakfast Show beginning in January 2021, as part of a scheduling change that would see existing Weekend Breakfast hosts shift to afternoons.
In August 2021, she filled in for Trevor Nelson on BBC Radio 2’s The Rhythm Nation.

Roberts is a regular BBC Sport broadcaster. She joined the London Marathon coverage and commentary team in 2019, together with Gaby Logan, Steve Cram, Paula Radcliffe, and Andrew Cotter.

Roberts was named as a contestant in the nineteenth series of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! in November 2019. On November 29, she was the first campmate to be voted off the program. The program garnered criticism for the eviction because the voting app used to nominate campmates generated confusion owing to confusing phrasing on the UI; as a result, no votes from the app were counted, and only phone votes were used.

Roberts is an avid runner who has finished two London Marathons, both with qualifying times for the following year. She completed with a time of 03:36:31 in 2017 and a time of 03:30:38 in 2018. Roberts completed both marathons in support of the charity Heads Together.
