Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke commonly known as Ademola Adeleke (born 13 May, 1960) is a Nigerian politician, businessman and the incumbent Governor of Osun State. He was previously the Senator representing Osun-West Senatorial District.

Early Life

He was born in Ede, Osun State. Ademola is the son of Alh. Raji Ayoola Adeleke, the then Senator in the Second Republic in the Senatorial District 11 of Osun State, and the Vice President of United Labor Congress of Nigeria.

Ademola attended different schools within and outside Nigeria. In his earliest years, he attended Methodist Primary School, Surulere, Lagos. He later transferred to Nawarudeen Primary School, Ikire for his primary education and also attended Seventh Adventist Secondary School, Ede and later Ede Muslim Grammar School, Ede for his secondary school education.

Ademola attended Jacksonville State University in Alabama, where he majored in criminal justice and minored in political science. After much controversy surrounding his educational background, he returned to school and enrolled at Atlanta Metropolitan State College in the United States.

Ademola is a successful businessman and the founder of Origin International Limited. He worked closely with Guinness Nigeria Ltd and Pacific Holding Ltd as an Executive Director.

In 2021, Ademola graduated with a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice. He is the brother of billionaire businessman Adedeji Adeleke, uncle of David “Davido” Adeleke, and father of Singers B-Red and Sina Rambo.

Career

Ademola Adeleke is a businessman, administrator. He served as an executive director of Guinness Nigeria Plc From 1992 to 1999, where General Theophilus Danjuma was one of his co-directors. From 2001 to 2016, he served as the group executive director of his brother’s business, Pacific Holdings Limited.

He had previously served as a service contractor with Quicksilver Courier Company in Atlanta, Georgia, US, from 1985 to 1989 before joining Pacific Holdings Limited. From 1990 until 1994, he served as vice president of Origin International LLC, an Atlanta, Georgia, US-based manufacturer of flavours and fragrances.

Ademola Adeleke joined politics in 1999 when Nigeria returned to democracy. He was in the All Progressive Party until April 2017 where he decamped to People Democratic Party (PDP).

In 2017, he successfully contested and successfully won the seat as the Senator representing Osun West Senatorial District on the platform of People Democratic Party (PDP). In 2018, He won the gubernatorial primary election of the People Democratic Party for Osun State Governorship Election.

Ademola Adeleke contested unsuccessfully for the Governor of Osun State in 2018 election under the People Democratic Party but was successively defeated by Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressive Congress Party in 2018.

On 16 July,  Adeleke won the primary election of the People Democractic Party for Osun State Governorship Election to precede Oyetola. Fortunately, Oyetola lost to Adeleke with 375,077 votes to 402,979 votes.

He is married to Titilola Adeleke and the couple have 8 children. The children names are Nike Adeleke, Ayootola, Goke, Sina Rambo, and Folasade.
